Ray's MTB Park
Posted by: Lenosky
This past weekend we had a Giant Bicycles Demo at Ray's Indoor MTB Park in Cleveland, Ohio. If you've never heard of Ray's, it's a 71,000 square foot indoor riding facility inside a building which was formerly a parachute factory during World War 2. The park is a mountain bikers dream filled with north shore stunts, berms, box jumps, a pump track and a skatepark. The turnout for the event was great, and with temperatures dipping into the 30's rider traveled from as far east as Connecticut and as far west as Chicago to hang out, try some bikes and escape the frigid weather.
The highlight of the weekend was a Raffle for a custom STP built up just like my personal bike and valued at well over $2000! The Bike was displayed in the SRAM Lounge all weekend, giving riders ample opportunity to drool, but finally on Sunday afternoon the time had arrived to give away the dream ride.
We warmed the crowd up with a product toss, and dialed in our raffling skills by drawing some winners for t-shirts, hats and a pair of Lake Shoes. The anticipation was at an all time high as we drew the final ticket and the winner was a local grom named Joe Koenigsmark.
This was my forth trip to Ray's, and every time I've been there Joe, his brother Austin and their dad have also been there, riding and helping out at the park. I was psyched to see the bike go to such a nice kid, especially since he's a local and it was replacing an STP he bought used at the end of last season and was looking a little rough.
Thanks to everyone for making the raffle possible, Giant, SRAM, Rock Shox, Avid, Revell, Maxxis and Lake Cycling. This kid was stoked!!
