From New York to Gran Canaria

Posted by: Carlo

Alright its time for my first update on the Blackboxlabs Site. I couldn't write earlier 'cause I was on the road for the past two weeks.

I can't believe that I was already on my first overseas trip this year. The reason for trip was to meet all the guys from Cannondale and see the whole factory. I got my new bling bling frame with my name on it. The whole Team got the bikes build and we went straight to woodward east. I tell ya its such an awesome place. After the riding in Woodward we went to the Cannondale HQ in Bethel. Few more meetings there and than we went to New York City! How cool is New Yorks time square. It was super exciting and I was a little sad, when we left NYC after just few hours sightseeing. With a couple of drinks on the airport I left the states to fly to germany.

In a very nice BMW rental car I drove to my parents house to get my other bike and fresh clothing to fly to Gran Canaria/Spain. It was supposed to be 20 degree and sunshine in Gran Canaria for the trip. Away better to do a photo shooting there than to do it in Germany where it is cold and rainy. Mmmh somehow it was a little different. It rained the first days so hard that we couldn't do anything. We chilled in our hotel and went shopping. It was alright but we still had some work to do.
On the third day we decided to check out the landscape and find some riding spots. We drove through a valley on a small road. Everything looked good until we came to a spot where the whole road was floated. We decided to drive through with our mini van which wasn't the best idea. We drove through the water but it was very close. And somehow we could start the engine anymore. After few minutes trying to start the engine we heard bad noises. We started again, once more a big BOOM and we saw big pieces of metal underneath the car. That's it, the car was done. We hitchhiked back to the hotel and its still not sure who is paying for the car. I'm glad that we got a new car and could finish our work. Finally we got some good shoots and the pics will be out in the march issue of Mountainbike Germany.

So far,

Carlo
