UK-trip

Posted by: Joscha

I just got back on my bike and during one month I visited already three different countries. I love it!
Last week Timo Pritzel and me flew to Bristol/England for the "Battle of Radstock".
The brand new company "Charge Bikes" launched their products to the english press. The boss of "Charge", Nick Larsen, has a field packed with dirtjumps and unique dirt-bowls. So, he decided to make it even more interesting for the uk-press and invited some riders from UK and even germany for a cool jump jam.
The following riders had a wicked day on the "battlefield of Radstock":
Timo Pritzel (Scott / Oakley / SRAM) - Germany
Joscha Forstreuter (Nicolai / Adidas / SRAM) - Germany
Jim Dechamp (Mongoose) - USA
Garry Penman (Charge Bikes)
Paul Garrett (Charge Bikes)
Cunny (Charge Bikes)
Neil Donahue (MBUK / Santa Cruz)
Matt Scott (Curtis)
Ollie Fielder (Mongoose / Hyundai / Muc Off)
Chris Smith (GT/ Hyundai / Muc Off)
Chris Akrigg (Mongoose / Hyundai / Muc-off)

The battlefield aka "Radstock recreation ground" is really special. First time for me that I got the chance to ride 70's skatepark-style bowls made of dirt. It was fun and even more fun with the direct connection to the dirt-lines down the hill.
Timo had a succesful day with flipping the biggest and fastest double, which had a shape like a big step down race double you had to jump with mach5. Amazing! He placed 1st!
I decided to save my double-whip and triple-flip for the next big competition, so no final for me...

some more snapshots:
-2nd place got Chris Akrigg, who's probably the best and smoothest trials-rider in the world.
-riders in the bowl
-another view on the bowls
-Timo likes to go fast and flipped this speed-double later
-Matt Scott with a quick flip
-clap your hands for the winners
-Team GT-Hyundai's new small vehicle. pimp.
-Mountainbiking UK did a products-shoot in the bowls: the "Totem" looks good, Timo's signature TSG knee-pads as well!
-always good sessions with UK-riders!
- Cunny likes to entertain old women in old english pubs!
-T-Mo was obliged to try all the local traditional english beer. The orange liquid is beer as well, seriously!

England is known for great trails, so Timo and me decided to take the chance and stayed two more days to check some smooth spots. But the day after the Jam we got bad weather and had to cancel our plans. Eventhough we got the chance to ride a little bit. After some sightseeing in the old town Bath and a nice lunch in an indian restaurant (travelling with Timo is always healthy), we visited a skatepark in Wales and even rode a funny old dirt-spot. Big thanks to Chris Smith for taking the time and guiding us the whole day!
