Nissan qashqai events - 2&3
MILAN - DIRT
I think most of the riders who were invited to the whole series were expecting the events to be totally different. I was thinking more along the lines of the District Rides, but better. Not so much in this case. Each event is entitled to a certain aspect of riding....(Northshore/ Dirt/ Street/ Park/ Big Air) which is sort of funny to me, since they left out slopestyle? The only real event that should be represented for and with mountain bikes. In my own opinion i think the series style is cool, but how the events are run and presented to the public is not....People aren't getting the right image of what mountain biking is and what we can do. Thats why slopestyle is good, its ours. They are run on mountains with a choose of lines down the hill with various objects to do your stuff over, and not to mention the jumps are way bigger which makes for a much more gnarly event. All i'm saying is i dont think these kinds of events are pushing out sport in the right direction....Sure they are sometimes fun to ride, but not at all to compete on.
Ok so actually on to the events.....Milan, Italy.....gross city, we changed are flight after the event was over so we could get to Madrid faster. Pretty much what you would expect a bmx comp to be.....a roll in a a big 6 pack, but where are on mountain bikes right soo this is way cooler right?....Not really. Highlights of Milan where as follows: Greg Watts absolutly killing it...huge flip x ups of the first double, almost 3 double whips and over all just super nasty runs, GOOD JOB WATTTS! Andreu - Flip supermans like no ones business...retarded, Darren Pokoj- DUMMMMPPED 3's.... In my mind sickest shit of the day. This was my first event since my bike was lost for the event, couldnt really pull it together for this one and totally blew it....better luck next time. Same goes to to The C- Crew (Jamie/Kyle/Phil) as to either blowing it or crashes didnt make finals.
Madrid, Spain - STREET
Madrid is a cool place, best place i've been in europe so far....Maybe its because it has a Hard Rock Cafe 5 mins down the road or something else but its way better then Milan by alot. The street event consists of stepdowns, step ups, spines, huge cement pipes stairs and kickers. And its super HOT here soo you die in a matter of seconds, as it stands minuets before qf runs start I go up a do a full run...Since its full run practice and sections weren't aloud anymore. So i get to the bottom super happy and really tired cuz i did my whole qf run perfectly and i was pumped to get up to the top for my run...So im at the bottom of the run buy the last spine jump, they have the smooth nice path around the last jump all gated off for the public and the riders have to walk down this huge steps to get around back to the riders area...So im all tired from my run plus being way to hot from the sun...i step down one roll all my weight onto on ankle and bamb...im on on the ground. So Know im out again due do a poorly routed way back to the riders area! AND IM NOT HAPPY, CUZ STAIRS SUCK!
I give to you my rant that been building up over night and even for days on these events. Better luck next week in park and hopefully my ankle is better... Im off to take pictures of finals in a bit so at least ill have some pics to put up.
