spain trip
Posted by: Lenosky
Just got back back from a cool trip to Spain. I got asked to design the course for the Qashqai Urban Challenge. The event was supposed to be "Street Trials" which would have been great for me, but would have sucked for the 15 riders doing the whole tour. Overall, I think most riders liked the course, and I tried to make it as fun as possible since I knew most of the dudes didn't really ever ride street. Unfortunately the comp turned into a jump contest as usual from a judging standpoint, but everyone had some really good rides. All the street specialist that got invited loved the course, but there was a little whining from a couple of the slopestyle/dirt jump guys since they were really out of thier element. Paul Bas and the Claw basically shut down the comp with a 1-2 finish and put together some dope runs that could make mountain bikers proud. I threw in some staircase landings and most people hated them, but since we ride around on bikes with shocks and 26 inch wheels I thought it would be sick. Paul 360'd into the first set and t-whipped into the second and later on down the course he no-foot canned a big gap to stair landing. He stepped it up big time and won the comp. If anyone see's that stuff go down on a BMX bike anytime soon, let me know.
