The Gala

Lots has been goin' on here at crankworx.........biker x, garbanzo dh, air dh, sram wiffle golf tournament, the white party.........its ridiculous. But one of the coolest event I've ever done happened yesterday on the mountain. The Gala. Almost 40 girls showed up to compete in this first ever womens freeride event that was a part of womensworx at crankworx. There were four stations you had to nail for the judges: 1.a section of goats gully, 2. the schleyer drop, 3. the crabapple hits 4. the bone yard. You had to be good at all round riding, it was cool, I like that. Bit of racing lines, bit of air time, some tricks. And so I must have done a good job cuz I won and took home $1000 buckeroos. Stoked. Thanks to Katrina Strand and Lisa Lefroy for all of their hard work creating it and special mention of Emily Johnston who had a bail in practice and broke her ankle. Apparently she was doing sick supermans on the step up, sorry we never got to see her ride in the comp. But next year it's gonna be bigger and better and I can't wait.
