helmet or not?

This morning I got an e mail from a german magazine asking me the question helmet or not... This subject hits me hard, and to me is a no brainer but to some kids these days think different. well here is what I wrote him:
I am a big supporter of helmets. I have always worn one since I first started riding bikes when I was young. I have witnessed a lot of crashes where if the rider was not wearing a helmet they would have been seriously injured. one being my own brother. who landed directly on his head after an over the bars crash breaking his neck and back. The doctor said that his head injury was so bad that if he had not been wearing a helmet he most likely would have died. He thankfully crashed in the way the he was not paralyzed from his injuries but he still feels the pain to this day. Before that I was a huge supporter of helmets and since then even more so. I have heard stories of other safety equipment not being used and actually saving peoples lives... such as seat belts in cars, where one side of the car gets smashed but the driver was thrown to the other side of the car away from harm. I have never heard a story where someone not wearing a helmet has saved their life.
