THIS ONE TIME, AT BIKE CAMP.
Posted by: Claire
So is it November? Sure feels like it....but that doesn't stop these groms. Through sideways rain and wind and cold, they troop around the Whister trails. Some of them are the future talent and most of them are hilarious. It's awesome because we can really live by our new favorite quote, "You're only young once but you can be immature forever". Until, that is, the kids look at you funny and you realize that they are acting more mature than you.
I've been doing some coaching with WORCA (Whistler Off Road Cycling Association) this summer and this past weeks camp was the last of the season. Here are some highlights:
I rode with mutilated pinyata Sponge Bob's leg strapped to my pack and would yell out random threats like, "Sponge Bob's leg wants to know why you are riding in the middle of the road", if they misbehaved because I told them it would kick them in the behind.

This is the future Chris Kovarik, drifting and carving corners foot out and all but the massive climbs we took them on to try to tire them out worked a bit......sometimes. Here he is having a restt on the way up the Flank. Yeah Caiden.
And when they get bored of biking, they make up their own fun games like jib the random wet slimy log. Spencer in action.

"Whens snack?" The younger ripper group on "Cut Yer Bars" This photo was taken just before Luke butt slid down the cliff not on purpose and gave himself a nice bruise. But after a good cry and a sit down he was ok. I nearly had a heart attack though....
Here they are playing"Capture the Helmet"because we had no flag and Steven found a half drunk bottle of Sour Puss Liqueur somewhere in the bushes. That amused them for a bit.....just kidding. We made them pour it out.

Ben is one of the biggest characters this week, we laughed a lot at the things that came out of his blue candy mouth like, "I'm actually totally broke" and "I prefer Daquiries". Had to be there......

Pretty much, the best job in the world. On the bike every day, tarding and exploring all the trails in the Whistler Valley with Bucky, Strand and a bunch of ripper kids.
